8th AF Vet Mustang restored

Here’s a link to a photo and story…it says the palne is a 8th Air force vet.
I’m guessing there aren’t too many left.
Can anyone confirm the claim for this AC?

That fits with what I’d heard, any idea what is happening with it?

Heres another Ex-8th

Hi All,

Charles Kemps aircraft,

P-51d-20-NA 44-64005 is another 8th Vet. As a matter of fact the pilot Lt. George Vanden Heuval shot down nine aircraft in this plane. The planes name is Mary Mine

According to it’s entry on the Mustangs Mustangs survivors list it is indeed a former 8th.AF Mustang, see:
http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/p-51/survivors/pages/44-63807.shtml
also here’s it’s entry on the Warbird Registry:

Doesn’t Flying Heritage, Inc. in Seattle have an 8th.AF bird with it’s original colors restored to her?
