90 SQN RAF TUDDENHAM 1944

I’m trying to find out any information on my late grandads service with 90 Sqn RAF. He was a bombaimer on Lancasters in 1944. The code on the lancaster he flew in was WP J. I don’t know the serial/airframe number, or rest of the crew details. He did mention that they crash landed (some where to the north of Tuddenham) on return from one of the missions they flew and he and other members of crew tried to get his friend (mid upper gunner) out of the a/c but unfortunatly mid upper gunner later died.

Does any one have any info on aircraft; crash site; rest of crew; missions they flew etc.

My grandads name was Frank Evans and I think he was a Flt Sgt.

Hope to hear from anyone who might have some info.

Regards

Have you the correct information, Lancaster (NG323) WP-J.did crash on landing on 21st December 1944 but no oee appeares to have been Killed.

A quick check of http://www.lostbombers.co.uk
shows NG323 to be WP-G, not WP-J. Also doesn’t list a crew member named Evans.

Interestingly, there is a Stirling WP-J (90 Sqn) with a surviving Evans on board.. but most likely a different Evans…
