David try “Royal Air Force Organisational History” site – I think you may find what you are looking for.

David, you could try asking about the German night fighter pilot on the TOCH forum here http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/ someone might know something.
I have attempted to post on that forum but to no avail. I can view threads there but it will not accept my I.S.P. for me to register and post. So if anyone would be kind enough to post there an enquiry about Luftwaffe pilot Ulrich Veh I would appreciate it. Thanks for the suggestion by the way.

Can you be a bit more specific as to what you are looking for ?
I am following my Fathers R.A.F. service he flew a tour with 97 Squadron and was shot down September 23rd 1943 on a raid at Mannheim. I have managed to discover that the successful night fighter pilot was Ulrich Veh. I would like to know more about him.
I am familiar with the sites that Don Clark so kindly suggested. I guess I am somewhat grasping at straws now, after the initial rush of information new material is hard to find.

97 Sqn
Wasn’t 97 known rather demeaningly as 97th (Foot) Regiment due to the unservicability of their Rolls Royce Vulture engined Avro Manchester’s?
(Rolls Royce Vulture ‘X’ engine, 2000 Hp. And didn’t a Pilot win an award for bringing a Manchester all the way back from a raid on one engine, thought at the time to be an impossible feat?)
