Wednesday 9th October 1940 – The fallen

1 squadron, Wittering.

Hurricane V7376, Sgt S Warren missing, failed to return from section cloud formation flight over The Wash, 11.15 hrs.

92 squadron, Biggin Hill.

Spitfire X4597, Sgt E.T.G. Frith killed, believed shot down by Bf109s and crashed at The Ridgeway, Smeeth, Asford, 12.50 hrs, bailed out badly burned and admitted to Willesborough Hospital, died 17th October 1940.

235 squadron, Thorney Island.

Blenheim N3530, P/O J.C. Kirkpatrick missing, P/O R.C. Thomas and Sgt G.E. Keel killed, missing following combat with enemy aircraft over the Channel, 17.30 hrs.
