Mrs C would stop my pocket money if she thought I was going to buy an aircraft. Must admit that is avery tasty machine though.

Welcome to the forum Elroy13, sure am jealous of you getting to fly a Boston, beautiful aircraft with an interesting history. Where is the second seat? Read somewhere that behind the pilots seat there is another set of basic controls, so if needed the guy in the turret can control the plane.

Its a great airplane!!! I was the plane captain on it for a few years at the museum! It needs to have the guns put back in the nose, and the turret would be nice too! But hey!!…thats not my call! But it does have a 2nd seat!!!
I remember watching the CAF’s A-20 fly when I was younger! At one airshow the pilot was going to depart the Sunday show after his routine. He loaded up his lawn chairs into the bomb bay and up he went! As he flew in trail with some B-25’s he came over airshow center and opened the bomb bay forgetting about his precious cargo! It rained lawn chairs!!! LOL I was there the day of the crash as well….It was a very thing watching him fall out of formation…… 🙁

Connie Edwards once related a story about the CAF and the A-20. That and the photo here lead me to believe that this Havoc was also exec. equipped. Just how many seats did the plane have? Looks kinda cramped, but if you can squeeze three guys into the back of a Wildcat… 😮

Air Heritage have one under rebuild at the splendidly named Beaver Falls in the states –

Otherwise Kermit Weeks has one, which could fly (former exec conversion)

CAF had an airworthy A-20 until a fatal crash in 1988- no idea whether the wreckage was salvageable.

Lonestar Flight Museums is the one for sale but hasnt flown for years – but apparently is in v good nick.

Dont think the Aussies need five myself – RAFM should have one – indeed, randomly, there are two in Brazil.

What, you mean there’s others under restoration to fly? Would be worth a trip to the US just to see one in the air if you ask me

Well, if my lottery numbers come up I’d certainly go for it. An A-20G Havoc (43-9941) of the 669th BS, 416th BG(L) crashed at Erith, Kent, only a mile & a bit from where I live, on the 24th April 1944. All three crew were killed & I’d love to have it on display here in the markings of 43-9941 as a tribute to this crew.

lone stars bearcat is on courtesy also, would be cool to see a A-20 in the UK, size wise how big is a A-20? same size as a tigercat or bigger like a B-25?

Great. Maybe we’ll see some static airframes return to the air!
