on the BAHA forums i read that a rumor is going around at the Belgian MoD that Belgium is planning on replacing 1 of its airbus A310’s by a new and more modern A-330.
the rumor could be true, deu to the fact that the A-310’s are getting unreliable and are suffering from poor servicability. the A-310’s are frequently used for transporting troops and VIPs to foreign countries, but in the past years, they were often stranded on foreign airport deu to engine breakdowns and technical problems. apparently, they want to buy an A-330 to replace 1 A-310 so the other could serve as a source of spare parts.
althought this is an unofficial rumor, the choice to purchase the aircraft will not be made until the new parlemaint is elected in June, as the current MoD cant make any more desisions for purchase until after the elections.
does anyone have any info or background that this rumor is true or false?
