I have the pleasure to announce that in 2015, a B-25 Mitchell bomber, is all going well once the deal is finalised, to be imported into Australia.
At this stage I have no idea what B-25 type/model, who owned it or where it is coming from and whether it is flying or static candidate.
I will be able to advise more when the purchaser is ready to tell me more of their plans.
It is a beginning I am told of a few more very significant aircraft imports to happen over the next year all going well. The types are known to have flown in WW2 and possibly have a direct connection to Australia. What these types are I am not told at this stage but I am told when it happens I will be able to pass on more details to enthusiasts.

A colossal non story there Phil – there might be a B25 moving to Oz, which might be a flyer, or might not. You don’t know which one it is, or even is it has been bought yet, and you cant or wont tell us who the buyer is.
Please don’t waste our time with ‘I know more than you do’ type stories. They serve no purpose here.

Then there’s the substantial NEIAF B-25 in the Kimberleys, dismantled for transport.

We have 1 B-25 half fuselage at Darwin Aviation Centre in US markings as i recall and that is it for the type in Australia.
Actually, a complete aircraft with the rear fuselage currently not fitted. Hawg-Mouth, a well-known B-25.
Then there’s the two other B-25’s of the museum, sitting in storage. Both NEIAF, one is centre-section, wings, front fuselage. The other a front fuselage only and some parts.

The RAAF operated 50 aircraft as No. 2 Squadron.

Yes the did in later half of WW2. We have 1 B-25 half fuselage at Darwin Aviation Centre in US markings as i recall and that is it for the type in Australia.
One did visit in the 1980s tho from the USA and it ended up being exported back not too long ago.
The aircraft maybe painted in these colour or USAAF i reckon. We will have to wait and see what eventuates with the import.

Did the RAAF operate any Mitchells? Not an aircraft I know much about.
