Can anyone recommend an good “first” scanner, so my son and I can listen to aircraft both at airports, and at home, as we live not too far away from the approach to Manchester…………….Im looking for one that will do both civillian and Military, so im looking for VHF and UHF, am i correct in thinking this, Were not too serious at the moment so I dont want to spend a fortune. Hi, a popular scanner is the PSR282 which is available from Maplin (there’s one on the Mancunian way?) I bought one of these a few years back and it works well for me. I think most military stuff is now UHF and I’m told that some may be encrypted too so can’t help there.
