Hi All,
Myself, Mark Winterbourne and Danny Jones had a wander to MAN on Monday, and we were even treated to a bit of sun! Shame it didn’t last all day, but nevermind!

Hope you liked! 🙂

CousinMadness… Thanks for taking the time to add your comments! I certainly do take quite a lot of time post processing my images. I work in music and have a very ‘if you’re going to do something, learn to do it right’ attitude, and I’ve kinda carried that way of thinking into photography. I’ve only had a DSLR for a year though and been into aviation photography for around two years, so I’m still a relative beginner and learning new things almost every time I go out with the camera!
Shooting RAW is a huge help when it comes to poor weather and I do keep a keen eye on the histogram. A couple of the images are a little hot in the high end but there arn’t many pixels up there outputting the magical 255! You’re right about going over the registrations though. I do that occasionally but should probably do it more often!
As for shooting into the sun, my view is very similar to my approach to music as a sound engineer and as a musician. I don’t believe in being bound by what’s considered by the masses to be ‘technically’ correct, so if it sounds good, I play it and if it looks good, I shoot it! 🙂
Allan… Get yourself down to MAN. We can talk cameras, planes and tour busses!
Thanks again everyone. Much appreciated! 🙂

Hello Paul,
Very nice selection from a photographic point of view. Your images are very clear and there is no evidence of the dreaded “jaggies” along the body lines.
Your control of colour is very good especially against the traditional grey Manchester skies. Watch out for overexposure on the white fuselages as a couple are very high on the histogram. You can cure that with a small amount in burn tool. It’s also handy btw to run gently over the registration numbers to make them pop out a bit.
The Ethiad is a cracker. Check the colour histogram and see how close the sky colour is to the body, you did well to separate them.
Your cropping is excellent and your verticals prove that you are a conciencious post processor. I look forward to seeing more of your shots.
Normally a contre jour (against the light) shot in aviation doesn’t work, but I find the shape quite interesting against the warm evening sky. Good work Paul.

Magical work again Paul, must get me one of those ‘bigma’ lenses. In fact I think my 20x video lens ought to get an outing at MAN this summer ? Hmmm… I feel one of those ‘meets’ coming on…:D

Excellent work! I love the head on shots, with a bird like the 330 its quite funny to see how tiny their workstation is compared to the vessel they are controlling!
