A bumpy ride & serveys in the baggage claim area

I’ll always happy fill out serveys, answer questions etc. But todays been a hell of a day, just came in from Amsterdam after being up since 5am and I was just getting off the phone and I was pounced on

“excuse me sir, before you go on your phone again…”

The look on my face said it all. Just one of those days…when you can’t really be bothered with such things. The lady went “oh, it’s ok sir i’ll just let you be”

Of course, now I feel a bit rotten. She’s just doing her job…I wasn’t rude though..no need for that at all.

But i’m curious as to why they stand around asking what flight etc you just came off? Is there any actual requirement to stop? And why choose the later flights when people are bound to be a bit ratty?

oh, ps, bumpy flight tonight! captain said he was told by ATC to make an early descent. Got pretty bumpy and was clearly going up. He came on and said we were at 36,000 feet but we had descended below the turbulence. Perhaps I just misherad!? He even apologised for the bumpy ride. I had a chuckle at that one…

Immigration asked me that the other week…asked me where I had come from. I answered “Gate 54” :diablo: They didn’t seem to be impressed with that answer!

LMAO. Well done Andy, that’s a good one!:D

As for the point of the survey itself…its so that statisticians (yes, that is a word/job title before anyone asks!) can gather data to gauge how many people travel to/from the UK by air, what country they are coming from, how long they are staying in the UK for, and what the purpose of their trip is (business or leisure!). It is this probably this data that forms a small part of the evidence that is used to outline the need for the proposed expansion of the airport!

In the case of being a UK citizen, I agree with Andy as I do not see the point in asking them, however, the person doing the survey at the time would not know whether you are a UK citizen until he/she asks if you can spare a few minutes to answer the survey!

Immigration asked me that the other week… Well actually, no they didn’t, they asked me where I had come from. I answered “Gate 54” :diablo: They didn’t seem to be impressed with that answer! Anyway, what difference does it make, me being a UK citizen, to my immigration status?
