Is there a confirmed list of where the a/c are going from Duxford, in this crazy disposal that leaves us with no WW2 schemed JU52/C352

Does anyone know if the Shackleton and the Victor are set to remain with the IWM?
Both the Victor and Shackleton are secure for future restoration and past mistakes on the victor won’t be repeated especially the paint but I heard a survey was done and it would cost in the region of £150,000 to restore them which is beyond the museum at the moment.

Just to clarify some uncertainty that has been expressed.
As so rightly stated the exhibits belong to a national organisation that has to account for its actions.
This also means that once everything has been moved and allocated not only will the recipients of the items become public knowledge but also by the accountability and best value process the amounts paid will also be public knowledge.
I am sure that this will again generate very enthusiastic posts as to the merits of the recipients and the amounts paid.
Also as I understand it some if not all of these aircraft where offered to other collections within the UK who declined before they where offered for tender.
I trust that clarifies things for those that may still be confused as I am :diablo::diablo::diablo:

The CASA 352 at Cosford belongs to the RAFM.

Yes I’m such an unfriendly and pig ignorant enthusiast that I didn’t take time out yesterday, and once today, to explain to a couple of visitors the reason why the ‘Ju52’ was outside or to photo document it and post it on several forums for lots of people to look at.
I take it Sadsack that if you go to a museum to see a specific aircraft and it’s not there, then it’s the museums fault for getting rid of that aircraft before you had seen it, and not your fault for checking to see if it was there to see before you went?.
Oh, and us old people don’t have to rely on the internet thingy to get our information from. There is a wonderful invention that’s been around for years called the Tel-e-phone. It’s a device you can speak to other people with.

An an unfriendly and pig ignorant enthusiast. Oink, oink. :diablo:
fro a start I never suggested museums have no right to relocate exhibits. I should know. I work in one. If an exhibit has been there many years its not unreasonable to be surprised when its gone, as in this case, quite quickly.
and if you are friendly I don’t get that impression from your tone you come across as Victor Meldrew crossed with Basil Fawlty.
Also, does the Casa 352 at Cosford belong to the RAFM, or BA? The only good thing is that the money generated by this sale will go some way towards restoring an a/c which I admit I have not done, buildings being my area.

No need – the various free photo CDs that you’ve supplied to NAM over the years are more than sufficient! 🙂

I am so glad the majority of enthusiasts are friendly folk, unlike you.
not everyone has 24/7 internet I know of countless older folk who are still getting to grips with it, and if they decide to take their Grandchildren to see the a/c they have a connection to, hopefully they wont meet some ignorant pig who thinks it is their fault for not knowing.
A perfect example is a former Beaufighter pilot who was relishing seeing the TFC one fly one day – I would like to see you call him a fool if he had gone there and it had left.
Pen Pusher – is one of the most generous and polite photographers / enthusiasts I have met. 🙂

The CASA 2.111 isnt leaving – it was not up for disposal in the first place.

Its still sad!
While I appreciate the patchy provenance and condition it is still sad to see these aircraft departing, especially the Casa 2.111. As a schoolboy I remember the Battle of Britiain film 111s and other planes(?) flying into Duxford over Great Chesterford one sunny afternoon in the summer of 1968, mainly in one group -quite a sight. Their presence that summer established a connection with the airfield that has always been special.
PS Perhaps there is a list somewhere of the flying aircraft involved in the Duxford filming?
