A Canadian Hero has passed away

Art Sager inlisted in the RCAF on the 28th of February 1941, he received his commission and wings on November of the same year. He served in 4 Canadian Spitfire Squadrons 421,416,403 and assumed command of 443 Squadron on September 30th 1944, after 6 months of command Art was tour expired on 30th of March and sent back to Canada. He was mid-Atlantic on the S.S. Ranchi when Churchill announced over the BBC that the war was over. S/L Art Sager DFC passed away one month before his 91st birthday at the Royal Jubliee Hospital in Victoria B.C. he will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends around the world.

Art was a regular visitor to the Y2-K Spitfire project and his charm, his wit and his strength will be greatly missed by our restoration team.

Not much I can add other than to echo the comments already, Gives the Y2K project more meaning and urgency to return her to flight!

Another Legendary Canadian Spitfire Pilot is gone. He will be missed. We owe a lot to these great gentlemen and we need to keep their memory alive. I read Arthur’s book “Line Shoot” and have a copy in my Library. Thanks for the post. I need to come out to the coast sometime and check out the Y2*K Spitfire project.
