Called in to see a friend today and he had an item for me to try and identify! A friend of his has several in his shed plus qther bits apparently. Anyone have any idea’s what they may be off of??? A gun cooling duct has been proposed! Certainly they would appear to be some kind of air scoop.
It is 17″ long and 7″ wide at its widest point. Its 2″ deep and has the following numbers on it , 12 2EC11 D U and 12 2EC37ND X S. the approval stamp has DHP on it.
Over to you chaps.

DHP in a diamond shaped border is Aussie De Havilland Proprietary inspectors stamp. Will have an inspectors designated number also included.
Its in a circular border Stan as per UK DH Stamp, I just didnt recognise the “P” bit!!

Not in the UK Stan. DHP is de Havilland Portsmouth division, or the old Airspeed factory at Christchurch.
They did a fair bit of Vampire, Venom, and Vixen production.

Never mind Spitfires – it would make a great carburettor cover on the bonnet of my MG

Thanks Bruce, have to admit to thinking it looked like a Dh approval stamp. Amazing how everything HAS to be off a b****ing Spitfire!
