A couple of Gatwick questions

Hi,

Was very briefly on baa.co.uk and stumble across 2 flights due to depart from Gatwick.

Firstly, CU401 to Havana (via Holguin) should have departed last night at 7.30pm but is still showing as delayed. Who actually operates this service?

Second, GH713 is due to depart for Accra later tonight. Who also operates this service?

Thanks

I think the small problem of 150mph winds may have affected flights to Cuba!

They also used to serve Manchester, as recently as 1998, but were replaced by AOM DC10s.

Happy days. 😀

I remember seeing CU at MAN, though from memory they always seemed to be very delayed 🙂

Ghana Airways was apparently barred from flying to the USA recently for failing to renew its licence and flying aircraft which had been banned from US airports by the FAA.

T5, Ghana did operate from Heathrow, but they are pretty much 100% bust now. The flights that are operating into LGW are being operated by some holiday company, which is trying to sort out the mess left behind by Ghana Airways.

Cubana used the IL62 in to LGW on a summer schedule until the noise regs caught up with it, 2001 I think was the last time it operated. They then used AOM Dc10’s until they went bust, then used anything they could get their hands on including Yes TriStar’s and have now settled on Novair A330’s.

Orient Thai are operating the “offical” GHA flights, the flights have been direct but are now routing via DUS and are now normally late :rolleyes:

I suspected that it was Ghana Airways and Cubana, but I was never aware that either of them flew from London Gatwick.

I was under the impression that Ghana Airways operated from Heathrow and didn’t even have a clue that Cubana flew into the UK! :rolleyes:

Thanks

Well, I can remember it being operated by Cubana IL62s for a while.

They also used to serve Manchester, as recently as 1998, but were replaced by AOM DC10s.

Happy days. 😀

I think the Thai Orient was only in once or twice, I have read elsewhere that FlyJet are doing it on a more regular basis with the 757s?

AOM DC10s and then the Novair 330s are all I’ve ever seen at Gatwick. Wannabe Pilot flew with them several years ago on the AOM DC10 I think?

CU401 is a Cubana, currently operated by a Novair A330 (SE-RBF)

When did Cubana last operate this flight with their own aircraft? I remember it being operated by AOM in the past.

The Ghana flights are being operated by Thai Orient B742’s; HS-UTJ normally.

CU401 is a Cubana, currently operated by a Novair A330 (SE-RBF)

GH713 is Ghana Airways, however due to their financial difficulties a few flights have been put on by other airlines to bring the passengers home. I believe these flights are being operated by a FlyJet 757.

CU = Cubana.

GH = Ghana Airways.

Hope that helps 🙂
