The weather at Ringway this morning was damp, misty and claggy but this didn’t stop your intrepid reporter and his camera.
The first pic is A310-304(ET) C-GTSI of Air Transat (msn 595, ex TU-TAZ and D-AIDM).
The second is A7-ACH, A330-223 of Qatar Airways (msn 441).
Enjoy.

Varig does GRU-CDG-AMS, and I just found out recently that you can actually purchase a revenue ticket on the AMS-CDG portion for roughly 200Euro roundtrip. That might be a little pricey compared to the loco’s, but you get to fly on a 777. I’d be all over that. Pity you can’t do the same between AKL and SYD on TG or SYD-MEL on UA.

No idea, i thought there would be more that 2x weekly my self Singapre and Malaysian are doing great on both their routes, and both are non-stop( exept 2 SQ flights, which use the 744 and go via Zurich). All i say is hope CX see sence, addmre freqs and go Non-stop! Tho it will be great for MAN to have a link to Moscow!
By: greekdude1 - 10th May 2004 at 21:32
How much more feasible is it for CX to do 2 one-stop services vs. 2 direct ones? Did they not used to serve MAN non-stop? Seeing as the continuation leg can never be full, a la UA’s continuing service to MEL from LAX-SYD (and they have 2 flights feeding 1).

And i do have confirmation from the TAS MAN yahoo group that Cathay are to start twice weekly services to MAN next year, 1 via Moscow, and 1 via Munich using either the A343 or B777. Pity no direct link. Oh well better than nothing. Good to see CX def coming back!

The “word on the streets” is that FCA plan to use the engines (low hours, remember!) from N616AU as temporary replacements to cover power-plant overhauls programmed for aircraft already in service.
Once these overhauls are complete, N616AU will be re-registered, painted and will enter service.
There again, I could be barking up the wrong tree.
Or barking mad………..
Sunday mornings seem to be a particularly busy time on T2 and it only takes a couple of late arrivals or missed slots (PIA, where are you?) to render the stand allocations FUBB. It doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem during the rest of the week.

I like Air Transat’s colours.
Cool pics 🙂

There were problems during the hand over to First Choice.

Wasn’t the US 757supposed to be registered end of last month??

Nice shots Grey Area! Especially the first pic of the New Air Transat Livery. 🙂

That is a typical morning shot. Not any busier than usual.

Ah right, thanks for that I didn’t know about that!

Great pics! Looks like it was a busy morning with the MH 744 having to be at a remote stand!
The MH 744 is towed to a remote stand once unloaded. It then is towed back to a bridge ready for boarding later. This is to make space for the other aircraft that need a jetbridge. The same thing happens with the SQ flight. By the way Grey Area, nice photos!!

Apparently the aircraft in question was stored at Mojave between 9 September 2002 and 2 February 2004.

US Airways serve Philadelphia from Manchester, with A330s.
I figured as much, which is why I was surprised to see a 2nd aircraft, let alone a 757, on the tarmac in US colours.
I approve of how 3 of you were all over my question in a matter or seconds. Very above average. USAirways trying to stay affloat by selling aircraft. Nice 🙂

Ah, don’t be misled by the US 757 – it’s destined for First Choice Airways in due course and has been lurking around at Ringway for a few weeks now.

The 757 is ex US Airways, destined for Firstchoice I think.

To answer your question GD1, the US 757 is destined for First Choice Airways thats why it is there.

I like their old, old colours the best, the one with the cheatline. I notice one of the 2 US birds in the background is a 757. Unlike CO, I thought US only sent widebodies across the pond. Do they serve MAN from PHL and PIT, or CLT? Nice to see Virgin Classic Jumbos still flying. 😀
