A couple of questions

The Winter Para-Olympics. A couple of questions.

i/ Should our – and the worlds – athletes be allowed to make up their own minds about whether to go or should the state demand they don’t?

ii/ Those athletes who do go – what kind of protest can/should they make?

My view?

i/ It is up to the athletes themselves, not me. They will have trained for years to get there, so to tell them no would surely be damn near murderously heartbreaking for them; if they do not feel safe or don’t want to go because of the situation then I back them 100%, just as I would if they wanted to go.

ii/ I like the idea of all the athletes wearing a Ukraine flag on their kit. Actually carrying one in at the opening ceremony would probably earn a night in the cells at the very least, but if ALL the athletes did that…!
