A couple of Sabres I found in Canada – and a couple of queries

1. At the Aero Space Museum of Calgary is this North American F-86 Sabre, painted as Mk 5 RCAF serial 23175, said to be the second production model ordered by the USAF in 1947. This aircraft served in the USAF with the 94th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. The Calgary Branch of the SPAADS (Sabre Pilots Association Air Division Squadron) purchased the aircraft from the Seattle Museum of Flight in 1997. Is this information true? If not, which Sabre is it and where did it originate?
2. and 3. At the Airspray facility at Red Deer Airport was this beautiful Sabre C-GBUI used I believe for target towing nowadays. Does anyone know its provenance, please?

The mystery red aircraft

Just so that everyone knows what we are talking about, Jochen, here is the information we both uncovered on the red biplane at the Western Development Museum, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan:

Pheasant Aircraft Co. H-10 Red Pheasant G-CASR, 3-seat open cockpit biplane with 90 hp Curtiss OX-5 engine, designed by Lee Briggs and Orville Hickman. 11 were built before the company folded; its operations were sold and moved north in 1928 after Briggs was killed in a flying accident.

You might also want to take a look here with the correct serial numbers of the Sabre survivors 😉 :

This Sabre has sn 47-606. Another clue maybe.

And on this link you can see the first F86A-1 delivered to the USAF had serial number 47-605 so 47-606 must be the second one.

Thanks, Jochen, your clue has helped me nail down the target tug. What about the other one though?

The Sabre is one of the most beatufull jets for me. I was Lucky to see one for the first time in my life flying at Lelystad. Also these birds look great! 😎

1. The museums website does say thet this was the second production model ordered by the USA. See this link:
http://www.asmac.ab.ca/html/sabre_f86.html

The Sabre C-GBUI has cn 1710 and was also used by the RCAF as a target tug aircraft.
Take also a look here with info about the use of target drone QF-86E’s such as C-GBUI:

Greets,
J.V.
