Hi All,
I returned home last night from a fantastic two day trip to Edinburgh with Adam Spalding. We met at DUB, flew to EDI, spent an evening⦠Err⦠Getting slightly merry, and had a good couple of hours at the airport yesterday afternoon. Lots of Squeezyjet so my Brizzolian friend felt at home!
Here are a few images from the day, all taken with either a Canon 350D + Tamron 28-300 or a 30D + Sigma 10-20 DG.

10mm does interesting things to planes!

The very impressive control tower:

Lovely shots Paul – liking both the Biz shots and the Cityjet too – i spot that it has a united nose.
Great work!

Hello..
Very familiar shots! π
I stopped by at about 13:30 in my car for a lunch break but there was
nothing worth shooting that passed my eyes, so I didn’t get out my wagon.
I missed that A6 lear… nice.
Right enough, you don’t really need ladders for that spot. >>>

Nice shots Paul! I’m thinking about going to EDI in the summer, whats it like up there? I assume you didn’t take a step ladder on the plane with you?
Thanks, Dan! Nope, we didn’t have stepladders but we didn’t need them! The spot these were taken from is just 25 minutes walk from the terminal. You have a nice clear view of the aircraft approaching and there’s a nice sized hole for you to poke your lens through to catch them on the taxiway. One thing Adam did quite rightly point out is the fact that this particular spot would be pretty much useless if runway 24 is in use, so you’re a little at the mercy of the winds (but then again, you are at most airports to a degree).
If you drop me a PM a little nearer to when you go I’ll forward you a Google Map showing you how to get to this spot. π
Thanks again, all!

Good bunch of shots there Paul. Favourites are the one of EZID landing and the one of Mr Spalding.
Glad you got a nice day and hefty easterlies for some nice all round shots within walking distance.

no offence to Adam but was it really necessary to give people nightmares, kids look at these as well.
He’s actually a very nice and inoffensive person ‘in the flesh’. You probably wouldn’t think it, but he is. π
Spalds… You do realise I could very easily have fit another beer in had I known I was on the same aircraft we flew to DUB on! Always a pleasure to meet up with you as well, mate. Even if I can describe you as WAC… Thanks again for a great two days.
Thanks again, to everyone who’s commented. π

Nice shots mate, really like the images with your wide angle. Dakota before and now this – no offence to Adam but was it really necessary to give people nightmares, kids look at these as well. Great work,
Cheers

I was mildly annoyed with my sector back home yesterday
Was that because I made it back to BRS in record time and was actually able to text you in BRS when you hadn’t even left DUB π

Excellent pictures as per usual mate π
Unlike certain individuals I don’t mind having my picture on the forums, even if I do look like a complete and utter WAC!!!!! π
Always great to meet up with you! Belfast Saturday whooooooo
All the best mate,
Adam

Excellent work, mate. π
Really sorry I didn’t get more chance to speak to you at LBA on Monday, was one of those mornings!! Interesting that you flew EI-DHV into EDI, that was originally the a/c that was due to be operating your LBA-DUB leg!
No worries at all mate, I know you were busy. I was mildly annoyed with my sector back home yesterday. We flew from EDI to DUB on EI-DAX, Adam was on DPP to BRS and I was on… Yup, you guessed it… DAX for the second time in one day! Not only that, but our flight from EDI was delayed by a couple of idiot passengers who hadn’t boarded the Aer Lingus flight departing from our gate prior to us despite the fact they were waiting at the gate and final boarding had been called two or three times. Because our aircraft was late pulling onto the stand, its next three sectors were also delayed so I had the same delay from the same plane TWICE in one day! Well annoying!
Thanks for your comments so far, all. π

And finally, an image both myself and Adam agreed was the comedy photo of the day. Here is Mr Spalding, and his extremely wide face…

π
Thanks for a great two days, Spalds. As usual it was good fun and thanks to your patience I actually came away from the day with some useable images.
Thanks for looking, all!
