Hey guys,
Just got back to St. Maarten today – Absouletly awesome place, managed to fly the 733, DH6, F100 and MD11 in a week, not bad 🙂 For everyone who think SXM is over-rated etc it’s nonsense, the whole place is awesome! Anyway here are the shots…
Spirit A319 with a stunning backdrop…
Continental winglets over Maho Beach…
Corsair 747-400!…
One of many Liat’s, but there approaches make it a somewhat interesting subject to shoot…
Dale Coleman got a wee bit drunk so I ‘borrowed’ his 10-22mm and whent to shoot the AA B757…
Then off to St. Barths…
Duck…
P4-WEA…
Coley ducking :D…
Comments, critism welcome!
Thanks,
Sam

Great shots mate, weather looked so beautiful in all the pics. Im going there on a christmas cruise this year so will be on the beach all day xmas eve, cant wait!!!
Not a bad place to spend Christmas Eve! St. Barths is also a great place, actually the island itself is much nicer than St. Maarten but it’s very expensive because most of the people that go are rich or famous.

Just one question though, Did you get any pics of the terminal building etc. ? As i am rather fond of seeing how the development is going:cool:
As a passenger I dont really want to be charged directly for the development of the terminal at SXM. Surely this is down to the operating airlines…yet when I looked into fares to SBH from SXM I was shocked to find that 90% of the total fare was tax. A closer look uncovered around $50 in fees associated to the development of the new terminal. Bring back the old terminal with no fee’s thats what I say, had much more character than the new one and there was nothing wrong with it.

Super Shots!
Being into biz jets, I really like your Citation shot. It’s not often you get a background like that!

Sam,
Just echoing everyone else’s replies, great shots and what an oppertunity for you to go there. I guess it one of those spots that is on every aviation photographers check off list to do. My wife has promised me that someday we will go there…….someday! I read somewhere that the days of standing on that beach maybe numbered, was there anything out there as far as construction and moving the road etc?Once again great shots….must admit my favourite is the Spirit Airbus.
All the best

It really is a great place – For people that say it’s boring it’s just nonsense. You can just sit down have a drink and relax in the warm, the whole place is freindly even if alot of people say there pilots and know nothing about a cockpit :p If you book Expedia seems pretty good – It is slightly expensive but it’s worth it!
Thanks for the comments, more shots –

That’s it for now I think 🙂

Sounds sweet!
How many days were you there, did you see any more of the island other than Maho beach?
What are prices like for things like booze/food/transport once you’re there? I’d love to squeeze it into my gap year next Spring….but can’t quite get my head round finances just yet.
Check your pm mate 🙂
