A Few More From DX – 26 April 07

Just a few from my walk around on Thursday. ‘Brooklyn Bum’ had an engine run up, the ‘Buchon’ was having a bit of TLC and ‘Sally B’ is out in the open, minus wingtips.

Just maintenance as far as I’m aware. I think they have to take them off to get into the hangar.

Looks like the B-17 “Belle” is missing a wingtip. Guess she won’t be flying for the show? Just mantainance or was she damaged somehow?

I thought the Tigercat was flying out of Duxford for the USA? Hence the long range tank beneath the fuselage.

The Tigercat will be departing these shores soon and I think the Beaufighter has been sold and part of the contract was to finish building it to flying condition.

I thought the Tigercat was sold and shipped off months ago. So much for my brain. The Beafighter is for sale?

I thought the Tigercat and the Beaufighter were off to pastures new? What is the story with them now? If they are still leaving, any ideas when?

The jigsaw puzzle is the TFC’s Bristol Beaufighter.

Thougth TFC could not twin engine planes due to some new law where they have to pay more?

Great shots there:cool: See the Tigercat is still here. Do they have too still pay more for Sally B?

It is a Bell P39 Airacobra and the thing on the cockpit door is a styalised lucky horse shoe and shamrock.

Great pictures anyway.

Curlyboy,

Thanks for that, however, Question 2 was referring to the green airframe above the 109. But, in the confusion thanks for answering what should have been question 3 about the artwork on the P39.

Lovely photos there Brian, thanks for sharing. 2 Questions, 1. What aircraft is “Brooklyn Bum” & 2. What is the Green Jigsaw puzzle with the Rising Sun on the cockpit side?
