The additional shots particularly of Whirwind XJ726 clinch it for me as Halfpenny Green August 1971. Other notables present at that meeting included Gemini LZG, Provost WPH and Taylor Monoplane PRT. I am intrigued: how is it that behind the Whirlwind there is a group of people sitting on chairs around a table, not only out on the grass but also in the middle of a taxying area? My best guess is that it is a group of race officials situated where they can get a good view of the finish.

LAHarve
I am sure the Lincoln is pictured at Aston Down and was one of several that were given a protective cacoon for external storage on the airfield, late 50’s early 60’s. It was one of several Lincolns along with Hastings and smaller airframes. At one time I had pictures of the aircraft stored in this way but cannot find them now, does anyone have anything.

Hi LEHAVRE,
Great colour pic of the Active. I was seeking info on this Active a while back.

The red and white check scheme with the narrow red back we concluded was after 1963 and before 1977. At this time the aircraft was operated by the Tiger Club which was based at Rochester. The picture at Lydd was felt to be April 1969.
The present owners, The Real Aeroplane Company, may well be interested in a copy of your picture!

In August 1971 at Halfpenny Green, ‘YRJ was flanked by Cassutt ‘XDZ and Beta ‘TLY. The whole ambience including the skyline suggests Halfpenny Green, but I suppose they may have been parked in the same relationship more than one year! (it was a small community of racers). In the photo from the crowdline I have, the chap in the anorak was walking across from the direction of the Beta and there were several people examining the nose of YRJ. It seems to tie in, but I am not 100% sure.

Judging by the race numbers on the aircraft in no 2, could it be a King’s Cup event?

From the Ansells and Ashfords refreshment caravans, is no 2 Halfpenny Green?

Unidentified Sea Hawk possibly at Culdrose,
Yeah, I’d say so, C3 is used by FRADU (736 Naval Air Squadron).
