Hi All,
These are a little overdue, but last week myself and Tom (LBARULES) had one of our little 4 flights in a day trip, flying LBA-BFS-STN-DUB-LBA. Luckily for us it was the day before everything went crazy with the terrorist plot being foiled.
Anyway, it actually ended up being a pretty rubbish day for photography, but it was a good day for flying and drinking so all was not lost!
Aboard G-CELV on our way to BFS

And a few from STN where we walked for probably almost 2 miles to get right under the inbound aircraft.

Me being silly with a macro lens…

STN really does have a pretty impressive control tower…

And finally, on our STN-DUB flight we were on… Well… I’ll let you guess from the nice blue stripes on the pointy thing!

Thanks for an enjoyable day Tom. The smile you had when you realised we were on ‘DCL’ should just about have worn off by now!
Paul
P.S. I know this shot is horrendously heat hazed, but can anyone shed any light on who this 747SP is owned by and what its purpose is? It appears to have some kind of anntenna right behind the hump. Any ideas?

Brilliant mate, didn’t disappoint! :D.

Where an earth in this thread does it say that this is only a BFS STN DUB thread?
Nowhere, but I didn’t say it was an LBA-specific thread either. In fact, I didn’t say it was an anything-specific thread. It’s random, just like its author!
Besides, when I arrive at my home airport (where, incidentally, I spend what is possibly an unhealthy chunk of my strange little existance) at 05:15am, fly out at 07:00am, and arrive back there at 10:10pm having just flown through 3 other airports, I tend not to take many photos there.
However, in future and solely for your benefit, I’ll be sure to make my thread titles clearer and write something along the lines of:
MAN 16 8 06. WARNING! This thread DOES NOT contain any LBA pics!
Sarcastic? Who? Me?…
😀
Thanks for your comments guys. Dan… Any of your photos are always more than welcome in any of my threads!

Where an earth in this thread does it say that this is only a BFS STN DUB thread?
Hmmmm…. so unless a thread specifically states that it doesn’t contain pictures from LBA, you expect to see pictures from LBA?
Interesting……. 😎
By: LBARULES - 20th August 2006 at 20:26
No where. But unlike other threads Paul puts on the forum, this thread isn’t soley for LBA, and when we are travelling through three different airports, we are going to focus on those rather than the one we can visit anytime!

I don’t see any… What is your point always asking for shots of LBA in threads that aren’t devoted soley to LBA?
Search for threads started by myself and Paul. There are many photo threads from LBA. When we go for a day travelling to other airports, we want to take photos from different airports!

not many pics of lba

Great selection Paul 🙂, another day gone to plan :D.

Nice work Paul, shame that you happened to visit STN at the least exciting part of the day!
The control tower is quite impressive….here’s a few shots I took a couple of years ago (excuse the quality, very old camera).
Looking up, from the bottom.
The terminal.
A long way down….
Cargo ramp….right infront of the tower.
A few nice colours…
And looking out towards the other satellites.
Sorry Paul, I’ll take these off your thread if you like! Just thought it may be of some interest to you and others…

The SP was converted to FANS a good while back by one of the Princes in Brunei. He spent loads on it and then got a slap wrist for being a naughty boy. It was then given to the Qatari royals as no one else wanted to touch it.

Super shots Paul, as ever. Now how come the weather never turns out like that when I go to DUB?! 😀
