lanc bombdoor
Benyboy any pics of the door other than the one posted and wonder if they would trade or sell it?
By: benyboy - 13th February 2005 at 15:28
Yes it is a Lanc bombdoor. They also have a lot other wwll aircraft parts in the main hanger, B17,Spitfire ect. The aircraft parts are all in individual displays with lots of information and history.
They also have a Harvard restoration project. Wich I did take pics of but they seem to have dissapeared with out trace.

Hi Steve
No Finished marking up all the wiring. We have been building a mobile trolly to hold the rear fuselage this is now finished just the wooden formers to make then we should be ready to start taking it apart to fit the new wings (sounds easy when im typing it!)

Nice shots, good to see they’ve moved the Lanc rear section (KB976) inside since I was there in October 03. 🙂
Scott – you STILL wiring that F3 of yours up? 😉

Have you seen the Harrier instrument panel on ebay. I think there are few instruments as well.
Oh yes indeedy… although I have one myself, the info’ has been passed to the rest of the very unofficial Harrier cockpit owners co-operative.
Although any and all leads to Harrier parts internal and external are most welcome.
Cheers…….. 😉
PS. Cracking photos by the way 😀

£100-£150 (is that un-realistic) for a bit of both.
Only made it to the local fly ins last year (Brieghton and Sherburn) so this year I dont want to spoil shows by being stuck behind a camera to much.
if you can stretch to £200ish you should be able to pick up something like a Minolta Z10/Z1 or Olympus C765UZ etc online… have a look at the ‘small camera picture’ thread or whatever it was called for idea of what people are using.. worth spending that extra if you can as you get the flexibility to take flying shots and use the optical zoom to be more creative (!).. dont forget though to allow some money for media cards etc.. They get upset if you call it a Dakota! Did not go in today but have been in before. I think it had quite a few instruments in but no VIP interior. The aircraft was once fiited with bunk beds, galley, bar ect. It was used by Ford in Argentina, and some people say it was the most luxurious DC 3 ever made.
Last time I looked inside it did have some para seats wich they wont part with for love nor money.
The plan is to restore it as a BOAC aircraft wich flew from RAF Doncaster.

Hi Beny, did you get a look through the big panoramic window on the VIP Dakota, does it have an interior fitted?

No sorry mate.

Buccanear
Bennyboy,
Do you have any more of the black Buccanear cockpit please ?
By: Manonthefence - 10th February 2005 at 20:53
Benyboy you are probably better keeping what you have and trying to increase your budget a bit more. Its also worth bearing in mind what storage media you currently use and going for one that uses the same type.
I’m not au-fait with the compact camers at the moment, I do have a canon IXUS 400 that is really good for city walks etc but the shutter lag on it precludes any real action shots. They key thing is to get as much bang for your bucks so go for as high a Megapixel Camera as you can. On-line shops will help you increase your spending power, but do try and avoid grey import sites as if anything goes wrong you may not be covered under warranty.
Sorry I cant help more.

I went up there a few weeks ago, excellent museum. But can’t post the pics until the site is fixed. 🙁 Have never seen so many noses in my life, if you count theem there are over 60 ‘aircraft’ exhibited . Very friendly bunch too, even let me round the store.
It is in the middle of a housing estate! I had previously visited while it was still a airfield in 1989 and it was a grim place. Has changed so much lots of new houses and business units anll nicely landscaped . Its not so grim up north anymore! 😉

Any idea of a buget for the camera and what kind of shots do you want to take, Static , Action or a bit of both?
