A few pics from Manchester

Just a few pictures from Manchester this afternoon. Had a couple of hours free that way so decided I would stand around like an idiot, freezing and wet taking photo’s.

Enjoy…….

Cheers guys. I looked at that site about spotting. Saw some info about a bus to near the viewing park… might take a closer look. Otherwise its car park for me!

Would you recommend the viewing park over the car park or vica versa? Im going to Man on the 20th of Feb.

I must confess it’s the first time I have been to the Aviation Viewing park. I only live 60 miles from Manchester and the only time I really go is dropping off friends and family there (By Request for free !!!).

As far as I can see the facilities at the AVP are wondeful and alot of time and effort has been put in by enthusiasts to make it what it is. There are toilets / food stall and aviation shop there. The only draw back I found is taht there is no where to shelter from the rain (and sitting in the car just steams up the windows and flattens the battery having the wipers going!). On the other hand it’s only idiots like me who go out in that weather. The AVP is fantastic for photographs. Make sure if you go there that it is between 12 and 3 pm because aircraft don’t use the new runway for local issues. Otherwise they are quite away from the AVP. I tried to make sure that I went to both car park and AVP as quite alot of aircraft are parked up out out of site of the AVP and don’t seem to move. WARNING – if you are travelling by car dont park in the terminal for too long unless you have alot of money to burn. My stay of just over an hour cost me £4.50 and as you know, us Northerners don’t like parting with our coin !!!

Have a look at http://www.tasmanchester.com for more information about the AVP.

I will be going again sometime (infact tomorrow when I go to Paris!!) and try and spend a bit longer there so I will be more informed next time !!!

As you are only going for the day via coach i would recommend the car park roof. From here if you have a pair of Binoc you can see every movement, and with a pair of binocs get every aircrafts reggie, whereas to walk arounf to the viewing park its a good 30+ min walk around, so thats’ll be an hours worth of missed movements by the end of the day! 😀

Unfortunately, no i didn’t get a pic of the European Air Charter. It was parked right at the other end of the airfield and obscured by other planes to be able to take a worthy photograph. It never moved and showed no sign of moving all the time I was there….

Sorry…..

If I get chance to go again soon, I will try and find out what time it flies and try and get a pic for you….

Should be in the AVP by the summer. Think they are moving it in the spring with the RJX getting re-positioned.

Nice pictures Graham. And you are indeed very lucky to see the A318, I haven’t seen one yet! I probably wont notice it the first time I see it, but then I will realise when I look up the reg and it isn’t an A319!

Don’t worry, you’ll recognise the A318 for sure! It just looks wrong. Just like the 753, you will always recognise it. I have seen the A318 a few times now, once as an AF flight to AMS and twice as a prototype at both Le Bourget and Farnborough.

Hehe, that SAS B736 looks positively photoshopped its so small! I was lucky enough to park right where that TCX 757 is parked in my DHC8 back in Novemeber, a few days after she was moved there! Pity those silly engines hang DOWN from the wing in a Dash 8
