A few questions.

Hello everyone.
Just joined the forum wanted to find out a few things before I go out and buy FS2004.
1. Am I better off getting some kind of controller or using the keyboard?
2. How hard is the keyboard to use?
3. What kind of controllers do you use?
4. How hard is the simulation?
Thats it for the moment. Thanks for any help. 😉

Got FS2004 today, also got a Logitech Attack 3 joystick. Working a treat, still haven’t seen any where on the box where it includes square eyes lol.

.

The cheapest solution is a ‘twisty sick’ which will give you smooth control of all the major control surfaces (ailerons, elevator and rudder). Most sticks come with a basic throttle control too. You can pick up a decent twisty stick at a very reasonable price these days.

I used a Microsoft Force Feedback stick for a long time (recently upgraded to a full CH Flight Sim Yoke and CH Rudder pedals).

Will any kind of joystick do or is there specific types for simulators?

All I can say is don’t use the keyboard for controlling the control surfaces, it is a real pain! I tried it a coiple of times, and was soon very glad to install a joystick because that does make things alot easier.

TJC first of all welcome, not been here long myself but they are a good bunch.

The simulation can be as simple or complex as you want. Theres not really any way of describing it except its as real as it gets when you take it to the limit.

A joystick or flight yoke is a good idea. The keyboard is a little clumsy to be able to carry out those smooth turns. I use a age old wingman attack joystick at the moment but it does the job.

well once again welcome to the forum
