Hope this works, I’ve not sent a piccie to this site before, so here goes. This was taken at RAF Eastleigh (Nairobi, Kenya) by your uncle KeithMac way back in 1965. The aircraft was on it’s way to join the Ark Royal off Mombasa. The white pod with the panels open on the port wing is a Palouste air starter, only carried by aircraft in transit, and used for air starting the Double Mamba’s.

Same here Philo. Do I tell you now that there’s one not far from me at the FAA museum NAS Albatross, Nowra, or should I save that for later 😛
I must go there one day and get some pics for everyone!

Great pic!!! I’ve never seen a Gannet unfold before!!!! I must admit this is one of the most interesting wing folding mechanism’s I’ve ever seen!!
