A Gerry beck story.

Here’s a good Gerry Story for you. Years ago, Harry Thompson was going to give Gerry a ride in his new/used balloon he just learned how to fly. Just prior to take off the burner was running full and Harry was dropping ballast bags when they noticed the burner was stuck full throttle. Harry tried to catch a bag that he had just untied and it pulled him out of the basket. Now the balloon was instantly 300 pounds lighter and at full throttle. Gerry quickly started shutting off all the gas bottle valves. While he was on the last bottle he thought; wait a minute, I might want to use this valve as a throttle. He was drifting out over a lake so he planned his decent to land on the other side. As he got lower the wind pulled him back over the lake. Ok, so open the valve more and try again. Next try same thing. Ok. Back up and go farther from the lake. He finally landed successfully. A farmer came out and inspected without a word. then asked Gerry,”This your balloon?” *Nope.* “You the pilot?” *Nope.* “Where’s the pilot?” *He fell out at the airport.* Time dragged on and on and no Harry. Gerry’s thinking, WTH… you would think he would rush right after him. Much later, here comes Harry bumping across the field. Gerry asked, What took you so long? Harry replied “Well I had to get beer”
