Here is something unfortunately all too rare… A spectators terrace RE-OPENING in the UK:
http://www.glasgowprestwick.com/flight-and-passenger-info/airport-facilities/spectatorsgallery.html
Well done to Prestwick for showing some common sense. Hopefully the PTB at GLA,EDI,LGW see this and re-open theirs and the architects at LHR can stick one on the roof of the new terminal????
Oh…. and ,rumours that it is funded by Ryanair who will be charging £10 entry (if booked 2 months prior..rising to £50 on the day) and the stipulation you only look/shoot RYR aircraft is entirely untrue!!!:dev2::dev2:

I agree.. i too like to find the best shooting spot, as most photographers do..the terrace re opening is great for the number crunching spotter and the waving teary eyed relatives 😀
ha not a benefit to me coz I dont take reg’s, I do use them to explain whats in my images when I upload them but not for spotting purposes. Ive found it much more fun to just take pictures.
Aww anytime a relative leaves I have less tears and more smiles :diablo:

As long as your happy shooting from behind glass, PIK are not opening the balcony area.

Best news from a UK airport in years
Hats off to Prestwick for this decision, other UK airports please take note, yes, there are good spots around the perimeter fence, but the spectators enclosure could be advantageous during the winter months, which next airport authority will be next to copy Prestwick’s excellent example?.

Lucky Glaswegians! One of the fursthest airport in the Uk from me :p.
Honestly I kind of like poking around the perimeter fences at airports it means you can find different angles to take pictures from and get alot closer to planes in certain cases. Cant deny though somewhere to sit in the bloody cold winter time would be great. I was only small when then Luton spectators building finally closed so didnt get to use it to its full potential. Darn eh!

What a great move by the airport authorities. Ignore the direct cost of re-opening this facility and look at the indirect income that will be gained from this. If you want to spend a day in comfort you will quite happily part with some hard-earned for a few hours car parking along with a sandwich and drink from a shop in the terminal. It also means that the sane spotter/photogropher/enthusiast will no longer have to go poking around the perimiter fence looking for somewhere to view from. Lets hope this sees more facilities opening or re-opening.

Excellent move – maybe a token fee payment enthusiasts section too
