A Grey Day At GLA

Last US Airways flight of the season, on departure after being given the next frequency and bid goodbye by ATC the pilot replied – “It’s been a pleasure, see y’all next year” 🙂

Nice shots there like the US Airways 757 and the US Navy C-9 shots.

Great shot of the E145. From the front with its nose down attitude and engines cantered upwards from the fuselage its quite an aggressive looking aircraft. Get your pics of the ex BA jats now before they all disapear.

I guess that is an operational decision,Tom. The GLA service was EK’s most succesful start up hence the change so soon, i hear NCL pax numbers (or more importantly the yield) is looking good, hopefully they will be upgraded to 777 before too long.

Looking very good infact the flights are selling very well rumour has it the christmas flights are sold out already.

Related question though, how long does Emirates leave the A332 on services before uphrading to the 772/3/3ER?

Nice shots there.
3 quick questions;
1. Who/what is the D9/MD8x on the second shot?

2. Is the VS 744 training? Forgive me on this one, didn’t think VS had flights out of GLA:o

3. How long have Emirates been using the 773ER rather than the A332?

Follow up to #3, How long did the A332 last before the 773ER took over?

1 – US Navy I believe, and that shot was taken lastweek.

2 – The Virgin 747 was operating a schedule to Orlando, it operated during June/July and October and is back April/June/July/October next year IIRC.

3 – The 777 has been in use around 18 months now, I think.

Nice set there DJ, never saw the C-9 when i was up today.
TJC: i’m thinking that is a US Navy C-9, the Virgin is on a short season for the October week to Florida(i believe it positioned in empty from MAN) they are back at GLA next year with an increased program in the summer as well as Easter and the October week.
The 773 has been used since December 16 2005, not always a 773 sometimes a 772 and the odd A330 come in.
The service started on April 10 2004 using mostly A330 until the change in dec 2005.

Many thanks for the reply. Clerars up the few questions I had.
