An elderly overseas-based colleague is the owner of six Harvards – four of which are currently airworthy and another two undergoing restoration.
He is currently looking into the viability of relocating them to the UK at some time in the near future and requires information about possible appropriate airfields, hangarage, etc.
Duxford, for obvious reasons, springs immediately to mind but would there be any other airfields, big or small, which would welcome the addition of such a fleet. These aircraft are in a trust and it is his intention and wish that they remain together and preserved as a collection.
Any advice or information will be very welcome.

Again, thanks for some constructive advice. I cannot say any more at this stage since I was merely appointed to conduct a feasibility study – at the moment still in in its preliminary stages. Therefore any further information either on this thread or as a PM will remain appreciated.

Where are the Harvards at present and who is their owner?

North Weald has a long established links to Harvard operations and would be another option.
It not only has it suiatbale grass and hard runways, engineers with the licences to look after Harvards, good transport links to international airports should the owner wish to visit and the noise issue would not be a problem, given there are two Harvards/SNJs in residence already.
If the operator wants to find out more I suggest contacting North Weld Flying Services/The Squadron or Weald Aviation for further details.

PS I am not employed by either of the above organisations

Not sure what terms you are looking for but try contacting the Shuttleworth Collection. I am sure the Havard will be a welcome addition to the aircraft based at Old Warden and IIRC they were actively looking for private owners to use the new hangars.

Bicester would be a nice central location and with hanger space – both with the gliding club and possibly one of the other unused ones.
I think Bicester’s local residents might have some noise issues with a fleet of Harvards!
In addition there is only one hangar currently useable and this has a waiting list both for gliders and powered aircraft.

If he wants to shift too New Zealand, we have plenty of room in our museum complex and all the facilities to maintain and operate 😉

Thanks for the info.
I have spoken to him and he would like to know about vintage aircraft trusts/museums/collections that might be willing to house them and take them under their wing, as it were.
This is why I thought of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford or perhaps one of the other lodger organizations.
Any thoughts on this?
