good morning all,
this part was fitted on the panel of the Hurricane MkI that was found on Dunkirk Beach in 1986 (and which has been restaured since and flies now?)
Can you help identify this part: where was it, what use ?? a compass support ? else ?
thanks

Indeed P2902 rings a bell to me,
here attached a local newspaper showing a picture of the wreck; Article dated 1990 and mentionning that it was found on the beach at Ghyvelde 3 years ago;
In another article, it is mentioned that the pilot was identified and came from Australia to see his machine: his name was Kenneth Mac Glashan.
Thanks

The washers are the same design/standard as the Hurricane Firewall has. However, I dont recognise the part. That might mean I dont have one yet! Has it got an A number?

That would make it P2902, which is still under rebuild and so not yet flown. Don’t recognise the item though.

It was indeed a Hurricane, at Les Moëres airport, a small grass runway near Bray Dunes (Dunkirk suburbs now),
it was found in 1986 or 1987 in the sand, and I remember a flypast issue showing its restoration in UK.
So, guys, any idea?

Are you sure Hurricane? A couple of Spifires found on the ‘Dunkirk’ beaches now fly but the Hurricane has not.
