hey
A friend of mine had a photo rejected from jetphotos.net, and neither me or him can understand why. Was wondering if any of the more experienced photographers could see a reason why jp rejected the photo for ‘horizon unlevel’.
In fact, this is the second time he had the photo rejected and its the second time he has put the photo to appeal – each time rejected for the same reason.
I would like to keep this thread open and not have it closed by the mods, so please, don’t turn it into a jp.net/other photo website bashing session – would just like opinions on what they mean, and why they said it.
This is the only place i know that i could post about this sort of thing, as i dont have access to jp.net forums.

I must admit I had a similar picture accepted last week, that surprised me as it was the same sort of angle as previously mentioned. Although the aircraft i took is quite a rare visitor, but I am not convinced that had anything to do with it….here goes..

It’s not the strictness that bothers me. Aiming to achieve higher standards can only help us to improve our photographic skills
It’s the apparent inconsistency of screeening standards and seemingly random rejection reasons that bothers me.
Oh well, it’s their train set. :D:D:D
Yes but all site’s are inconsistant. I talk to a few screeners and some seem more willing to accept a shot and some just think there shots are the best and have to reject everyone else’s because there not as good as there’s.
I think it’s better if you get rejections, it makes you work harder! :p Don’t give uploading your shots from JP, Lance – Your shots are good, if you get one rejected, appeal!

I’ve more or less given up on that site after a series of rather bizarre rejections of (to my mind, at least) reasonable quality shots.

Horizon unlevel? How can the horizon be unlevel when there isn’t a horizon?!
I would say it needs a bit of levels adjustment to increase the contrast a little, but I genuinely can’t see the logic of an unlevel horizon rejection here!

Cool. I know there was some discussion about a year back when I guy took a shot of a BA Airbus climbing out of Heathrow. Looking at the picture it looked as if the aircraft was climbing at a 50 degree climb, which, obviously can’t happen, specially when carrying passengers.

The photo has been accepted after an appeal. it took two uploads and two appeals but persistance pays off!

Im not a screener but my opinion of it would be that the angle looks quite unnatural. I think he is quite unlucky though, tell him to try appealing.

thats what i think, but he is determined to get the photo on – especially after seeing that this equally nice photo was added today –
