I will have to travel to Edimburg for business and one of the options is to fly :
BIQ-STN and STN-PIK.
How far/long does it take to drive from PIK to Edimburg?

follow this all the way to Edinburgh, taking the lane for ‘City Centre’ at the Hermiston Gait roundabout at the Edinburgh end of the M8.
You will have to be carefull when you get to this point. If it is rush hours, roughly 4pm-6pm, then the route from the airport right into the centre can be very busy and very slow. If it is not directly in the centre you are staying, another option is to take the city bypass (ring road) and come off at one of the junctions that has a good link to the centre i.e. ‘Gilmerton’. This way is faster than the ‘direct’ route at these times, providing you are not staying right in the centre of Edin.
Also, as mentioned, you can also get the bus. There is the main airport-centre bus, the ‘100’, which is pretty regular and benefits from the use of the faster bus lanes.

Why don’t you fly EZY from STN direct to EDI, and if your inbound flight to STN is late EZY are usually more accomodating than FR in situations like that
Or AF all the way ?

EZY wont give free transfers or anything if his FR flight is late into STN. If he misses his connection in STN within two hours of the flight departing then he can do a Missed depature fee of £35pp other than that its seperate airlines and each airline has a job to get you from point A to B and not onto C.
Shamrock is right, your best bet is to pay the extra and fly on ‘the same ticket’ that way you know its up to the airline to sort you out.
Ive lost count of the amount of times that pax have missed ‘connections’ in STN with FR when travelling NCL-STN with EZY, Even when the EZY has a short delay of an hour or so they still miss them, alot dont realise why Easyjet dont put them in hotels or get the to ‘point c’ without it costing them money, the bottom line is LCC’s are great for one destination but I wouldnt risk mix n match low cost airlines!

Dont be drown by the low fares of the routing you are choosing. If you have a delay and you miss your onwards flights you could end up with a huge bill.
My recomendation is as someone who has seen people miss low cost connections is to pay the little extra and fly with AF,BA or LH via a hub. The price mighnt be great but at least its safe.
I know. When I fly from Biarritz to either Dublin or Shannon , FR is the obvious choice.
For Edinburgh, I’m just exploring the different options since my company pays for my ticket , but this time my wife comes with me. (Never been to Scotland neither). Since she has a few drop of Scottish blood in her veins, it will be some kind of “back to the roots” trip;)

10 miles roughly, and accessible by car/taxi or direct bus service. And in case you were wondering, GLA is about 55 miles west of Edinburgh and about an hour away by car.
Perfect , thanks a lot.

Thanks Ren .
How about Edinburgh’s airport from the City?

You can drive from PIK to Edinburgh in less than two hours assuming you avoid peak times. The journey is roughly 75-80 miles and realistically can be done in 90 minutes if you don’t encounter problems.
From Prestwick follow signs to the nearby A77/M77 for Glasgow, follow this to Glasgow where it merges to the M8 motorway, follow this all the way to Edinburgh, taking the lane for ‘City Centre’ at the Hermiston Gait roundabout at the Edinburgh end of the M8.
Don’t be tempted by signs in the Kilmarnock area offering a route to Edinburgh via the A71, this is cross country and a very slow, agricultural route.;)
