I am in a very serious problem right now, basically someone who was renting our spare room a few months back has run up massive debts £20,000+ by lying on various application form’s and also by using my details without my permission to increase the amount of credit they were offered.
All my bank accounts have now been locked, I have been banned from removing any cash from said accounts apart from a small amount of my weekly wages, and am facing going to court for fraud.
I have been told I have to prove 100% I had no involvement in this, but even if I do that my credit rating is ****** due to this address being on my credit file.
Also I have been told if I can not prove I had no involvement in all this then I face being made bankrupt and losing my home, all my savings and investments, along with everything I own.
The fact is this women is evil she has stole hundreds of pounds from her boyfriend, beats him up very very badly (yeah some people might laugh but if it was th other way round he would have the book thrown at him), and also got sacked from a job for stealing £75.
Anyway if anyone has any advice about how to deal with this nightmare then I would really be very grateful, until this is solved I’m just gonna spend all summer stuck in my house, no air shows no bbqs no firework events, no night’s down the pub, I am not allowed to take enough money out because of this 🙁

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Its all over, “She gets found guilty and the book thrown at her, and we get our money back, and she goes bankrupt and gets made to pay the banks off.”
Well this option was the 1 the court have gone with, one can only hope this will be an end to the whole sorry mess.

The present Mrs ZHR discovered at the weekend that the bank had debited £1000 from her account for two internet transactions that she had not carried out. Fine, you may think. Except that the bank had cancelled the card back in March and this happened at the end of September.
Stand up and take a bow for your excellent actions, Barclay’s Bank.

Well so much for my post when I was having a party thinking this mess was sorted out, 7 days later the police came back and told me the slut who did this had suffered a “mental breakdown” and when she pleaded guilty the first time was already “in mental distress and not able to understand legal proceedings”.
So they refused to accept her plea of guilty and sent her to the lake district of all places for a “therapeutic brake”.
Anyway come mid September her doctor says she is OK once again, so off we went back to court for round 2, and after a massive court case, it all seemed to be going well. Anyway this Friday a final ruling on this will be made by the courts.
The outcomes will be one of the following,
1 She gets away with the lot and me and my missus lose our home our savings, well everything we own should the courts make us libel for the repayments.
2 She gets done but is found 2 be mad and gets away with it, we get our money back but the banks lose the cash she fraudulent obtained.
3 She gets found guilty and the book thrown at her, and we get our money back, and she goes bankrupt and gets made to pay the banks off.

Glad this has all finally worked out OK Andrew, must have been a worrying time for you.
Still…. we can all rest easy knowing that this sort of thing will all be history once we all have our £300 ID cards 😡

Thanks guys, a shredder will be the first thing I get when my cash returns (that could take around 3 weeks depending on how long the paperwork takes to get sorted).
Oh and the hangover on Saturday morning was horrific, then to make matters worse I had to work from 12pm-11pm with the bloody hangover, oh and my girlfriend was out with her M8s while I’m out working and feeling ill, typical 🙂

Bravo!!!!
Glad you are in the clear, friend!
But this sort of thing happens too often. You need to be really careful of identity fraud these days. Bruce’s suggestion was a good one, buy a shredder and never put anything with personal details in the trash.

Great news – glad you’ve had a happy conclusion!
(PS. How’s the hangover?! 😉 )

Andrew,
Glad to hear it.
Go and buy a shredder, and make sure all your personal docs get shredded before they go in the bin. You dont want it happening again!

Hi All
Many thanks for the kind wishes and excellent advice you all gave me, tonight when faced with a court case the cow who did all this admitted the truth.
However by doing so she has got herself out of going to court and also will pay just £100 back to the company’s she ripped off.
Anyway the point is that within a few weeks my bank accounts etc will be fully normal etc so I am in the clear.
Sorry if this don’t make sense my girlfriend is out with her M8s as is the new person now renting the spare room (oh and she is normal thank god), so as you might be able to tell I am drunk, thats why this might not make sense being drunk and dyslexic is a bad combination.
Anyway Waddo 2005 hear I come thanks once again for all the good wishes and support I got here and if you will excuse me I need to get back to my booze. (lol)
Thank you everyone now I just wanna enjoy life for a bit now.

Thanks people 🙂
Have taken legal advice today and its a case of 50% good news 50% bad news, despite my best attempts to get my savings and credit card unlocked I have been told that until this is sorted one way or another then the answer will remain no.
Also they won’t allow me to have full access to my income just a small samount per week.
Anyway now for the good point’s the company’s that are owed money have agreed not to ask for the repayments to start until the police have finished there investigations.
Also one of the company’s that are owed money have agreed to write of the debt in full so thats £1000 less to worry about, lets hope the rest follow this example.

Andrew,
Firstly, as suggested, get hold of the credit companies – it is they who are causing your problems. Write clearly and concisely, putting your point over quite forcefully; you need them to believe you were not involved. I assume she has used your name and account details to take out the loans, so ask for the original application forms – they must have something on file.
All banks have a fraud department – if it is directly related to money coming from your account, contact the fraud department – dont take no for an answer, and if you keep getting the same answer from the people you are dealing with, just ask to go higher. If need be, contact the banks head office, so you can explain the situation. Again, make absolutely sure you put everything in writing.
My VISA card was hijacked about a year ago, and as soon as I realised, I contacted the issuing company, and the charges were removed immediately, and the card was cancelled. I had to sign a statement declaring this was done without my knowledge.
Get angry, but dont get nasty. Keep on at them twice a day, every day, until they do something about it… If there is a suggestion that the companies are in error, you should also demand compensation, but leave that until it is clear that they are in error.
As also suggested, go to your local citizens advice, who will help you phrase your letters.
Once you prove that this had nothing to do with you, you can get the credit references altered to reflect your personal status.
Good luck!

Andrewman, sorry to hear about your troubles.
What sort of finance did she get? Was she using your house as security? Was it a loan or credit cards? I’m pretty sure you have no case to answer. Most Companies will write it off as a bad debt in no time. I’m sure a house is not ‘black listed’ anymore, I think it’s the person, i.e. this fool, not you.
I don’t think you should have to dis-prove your involvement, it was your house – that’s where it ends. I think as soon as you explain to the various you should hear no more.
Good luck.
