I share with you some pictures of fighters Curtiss P-40 operating aboard aircraft carriers or on the flight deck. Some questions for aviation and history enthusiasts of WW2. There was a naval version of the P-40? Which countries have used during the war and which Operating Theatres? To view photos visit the link below:

The USN would not have been interested in the P-40 because of its inline engine. Radial engines did not require additional coolant to be carried on crowded decks, and for the same reason were considered less vulnerable in combat.

Operation Torch are your photos, no P-40 was ever designed for naval warfare.
The only time land based aircraft were launched from “Jeep Carriers” to acctually fight, was from USS Manila Bay.

Quote “USS Manila Bay (CVE-61) came under enemy air attack on June 23, 1944 east of Saipan. Two fighter-bombers attacked her from dead ahead, dropping four bombs which missed their target — the Manila Bay was transporting 37 Army P-47 Thunderbolts from 73rd Fighter Squadron, 318th Fighter Group and, as a precautionary and rather unusual move which Admiral Spruance later characterized as “commendable initiative,” four of them were launched to fly protective CAP until radar screens were clear of contacts. The Army fighters then flew to Saipan, their intended destination.”
