I was wondering what you would all think about another forum being set up where everyone from all three forums can post about non aviation related subjects like news or sport or just things like whats on television!
The reason i ask this question is because the forums you could say are the own little ‘Communities’ yet we don’t really even talk or know who the other members of the forums are and so posting on a non aviation forum would get everyone together to post about light hearted subjects.What do you think of my idea?Good or bad idea?

I have sent an email off to the webmaster asking if it would be possible to create the new forum.Its seems like a popular idea so hopefully in the near future we will have one!
Do you think the idea will be popular with the other two forums?

this kind of thing has happened on the iar cobat forum where elp has become an extra administrator and there is :
a “Wargamers Corner” forum, for games and such
a “Advertisments ” forum for stuff for sale
a “Aircombat Bar” forum for off topic talk
this is a rally great way of doing things too

I also hope that any new forums would be listed in the menu we use to get to this one and not in another part of the site!

P.S Wouldnt it be great if the webmaster elected a few of us by a vote to be the moderators of the new forum as he wouldnt have any more work and I am sure (no offense webmaster) that it would be more friendly because there would then be links between the forum members and the moderatros hense making it a closer network of friends!

I am in complete agreement – a “new” forum would be great, I love posting on the two I do post on, these are certainly the friendliest forums I ever go on and as you say Saab 2000, some of us have things in common besides aviation, I sometimes feel a bit guilty about my occasional “non aviation” posts, but a new forum would prevent that! Yes, please set one up:-)

The other magazine which had its own forum was called air action,the magazine for younger aviation enthusiasts.Those to forums were shut down because nobody ever really used them,but i think ths one would work as there are so many members of the 3 forums (800 last time i looked although half the people who register never post!!)and so having a forum which discusses non-aviation related things would be a good idea for the members of the forums to join up together and talk about different hobbies (for example you Rabie,Geforce and Comet with your belgian bear :7 !!!)and to get to know each other a bit better.I think its a pretty good idea.

he does watch as he appeared in a thread recently concerning him.
IMHO we do mix a lot (i’m on all 3), geefroce is on two, comet is on two, phantom II is on two, new boy Jo (?) the aussie is on a few. kabir is on two. philo is on two.i’ve probable got the above wrong 🙂 (sorry) and there are laods more.
i have to admit as an AFMer we don’t see much of the others while we come over to the others more – afm and flypast often “conflict” over what we are discusing – ie vulcans ,etc are possible in both forums “patch”.
a possible good idea – they have had a 4th forum here before for todays pilot i think and maybee for another mag ???

I think its a brilliant idea because i only know about 4 people outside of the forum and we could all find out what everyone liked APART from aviation!
Hope the webmaster sees this string and agrees!
