While this forum looses the plot over rumours/hearsay about buried Spitfires in Burma, a new Sea Fury is in Europe and no one says a thing!!!
This is a link to the “Icelandic BBC” if you like. A news item broadcast on Icelandic state television this evening. If you don´t understand the commentary, it basically said, that this aircraft took off from Egilsstadir this morning bound for Germany (I think that should be Czech Republic) and then gives a broad overview of the Sea Fury as a type.

That makes 2 in the czech republic now then. Sea fury “Riff Raff” has also migrated there.
So within a few years Europe could possibly have 12 airworthy Sea Furies !

The routing of the last delivery was Iceland to Norway on its way to the Czech Republic, so visiting the UK may be a non event. 🙁

I see the pilot reckoned only 7 airworthy Sea Furies at present ….is it really that few?
My guess would be more than 20 worldwide.

Thank you for that little insight into the Sea Fury Sigurjon, it really made my afternoon. I now know that, if you drop the tanks, the Sea Fury can easily exceed 550 kts (which is the speed of sound), and that there are only 7 operational ones left in the world.

Looks like beautifully clear weather for the transit through Iceland. When I was there last Autumn it rained for 7 days without a break ….but I still love your country!
