The rumours may now be true! It seems that someone, maybe HFL/ARCo have acquired the Spitfire Mk.IX MH415 “N415MH” formerly of Connie Edwards Texas and is now a resident at Duxford.
Believe it with your own eyes, see the pictures at http://www.duxford-update.info/ for this impressive site’s latest update.
On first impressions, it looks as if the aircraft might be in need of some TLC, but i am sure if anyone knows how to treat a Spitfire right, the people at ARco/HFL will!!
Please bear in mind i am relying purely on back dated posts on other forums (Bradburger – WIX), and the up-to-date imagery at Duxford Update. Though it does seem, if you put two and two together, in this case, it might happily make 4!!
Here’s hoping!
A very excited (but sunburnt… Woodchurch!!) Spitfire fan! 😀 😀 😀 😀

I think you can assume for the time being that MH415 is still in Big Spring, Texas. Mr ‘I hate Spitfires’ was just being a little mischievous almost seeing the RAF serial ‘MH415’ when the Shoreham replica arrived.

The previous thread was… http://www.keypublishing.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12968 although it didn’t really stay on topic for long…
My interpretation is that the Spitfire in Robbo’s picture is a GRP replica (looks like they need to reposition the droopy cannon), and that it’s been at Duxford for a couple of months, possibly stored for some of that time. I didn’t see it at Legends, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.
No idea on the REAL MH415’s whereabouts, although a swift check on the FAA website currently shows the registered owner as “None”.

Hi all,
This is my first post to the Forum so be gentle with me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the fibre glass replica that was in the D-Day Museum at Shoreham.

Surely it would have been at least rumoured on the flyvintage.com website? This lists most (if not all) comings and goings at Duxford, as well as a brief overview of warbird news from around the world (used to be www.duxford.org, I think).
The guy who runs it, Ben Rodgers, seems to have his finger on the pulse as far as all thigns Duxford are concerned – and there’s been no mention to date.
🙁

Robbo,
sorry, but Mark12 is right. Your photo is most defnately of a GRP Spitfire replica. A good one, mind you, but GRP none the less.
Sorry to spread the bad news.
OK, so we’ve got a new GRP replica, but have we got the ‘real’ MH415 as well? There was a thread a few weeks ago about this subject. Does anyone know if it is really here?

New Spitfire – MH415??
I posted on the Avi-8 board this morning, but the last time I saw a photo of MH415 (in the excellent Robert J Rudhall book Battle of Britain – The Movie), she wore 222 Sqdn markings as ZD-E, in full Battle of Britain-style markings – with no cannon!
Did Connie Edwards repaint her and fit cannons prior to export?
Damn, if only my lottery numbers came up earlier! 🙁

The review of airworthy Spits in Flypast a year or so back said that this aircraft held the record as having been owned by the same person for the longest time but had not flown for some years – does anyone know more of its history?
