Looking at the former RAF Sabres stored at Belgrade – I am minded that it would be great if some initiative could be started to exchange one with the RAF for a retired GR.7 . The GR.7 played a strong role in the conflict out there and I feel it would be a good gesture to an international museum for one to go there. As for the Sabre – either to complement the existing collection of the RAFM or on loan to a national UK museum would fill a gap in many a collection.

Personally, I’d love to see more Sabres – but if the deal is to be done, I think it will have to be a private museum. As I say, it is extremely difficult to deal with Belgrade.

Thanks Bruce -the RAFM example came out of Italy in an exchange with TFC . Whilst they do indeed have one example on the ‘books’ – they have a number of Hunters and other types duplicated within the RAFM collection which tend to go out on beneficial loans to U.K museums. I guess I can dream!

RAFM already have a RAF Sabre – came from Germany IIRC.
Dealing with the museum at Belgrade is very, very difficult – as I have found to my (someone elses) cost. I dont recommend it!
