Hello all,
My father pointed me in the direction of some PDFs on the South Cambs District Council website that are among the planning documents for Northstowe, a new town being built on what was RAF Oakington between 1940 to 1977 and I thought they might be of interest to others here. I’m interested because I grew up there!
They outline the history of the airfield, its architecture, aircraft etc, right down to a list of operations flown between 1940 and 1942 by Wellingtons and Stirlings.
The reproduction is very poor quality – it was a shame that they decided to fax it backwards and forwards a few times before finally photocpying it and scanning it (!) but it is nonetheless a very interesting account.
