A question for any bird-watchers

Hi all,

I have a passing interest in bird watching, and yesterday I saw a pair of birds with odd coloured plumage. At first I thought they were robbins, but they had the size and shape of a collared dove. Looking online at the RSPB bird identifier the closest thing I can find is a Turtle Dove, but the website says they only summer in the UK

Does anyone have any expertise on identifying our feathered friends?

I’m also pretty sure I saw a Golden Oriole one day when I was at work, but that’s another story 😀

Too late Newforest, have several in trees, and around the garden. Trouble is, the birds don’t seem to want to fly in the fog. That’s why I have shifted the feeders from around the garden into the trees.

I saw a bird I had never seen in my garden the other day, a quick look in my “Playboy”,( sorry, wrong bird book,) Bird Identification book, showed it to be a Dunnock.

Maybe a timely reminder considering your weather over the next week to put some food out for our feathered friends! 🙂

I agree Charlie, from the description given, it fits the bill, (Pardon the pun) well.

Nice to see there are some Hornythologists on the forum 😉

Looking it up it they might well have been Jays, I only got a brief look at them as I drove past the small tree they were perched on.

Thanks for the input 🙂
