Here’s something a bit different for you.
I flew gliders and motor gliders for pleasure for 14 years (2 years as a professional instructor), light aircraft as a pastime for 10 years and have flown commercial airliners professionally for 4 years.
If I add up all my hours (not including simulator) and flew them as one flight taking off at midnight tonight (today is the 3rd of November) at what time on what day will I land?
Regards
Ian
PS it would be too easy if I told you how many hours I have, you will have to try to estimate from the data given above!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-11-02 AT 07:08 PM (GMT)]cool at 5:25 on my birthday next year! 😛
Wysiwyg, that was a very hard quiz. I have been sitting here over the last few days picking my brains out trying to figure it out. Thats why aint posted an answer to it, coz I may have got it very wrong!?! 🙁
The only answer close to the real one, that I came up with was, 4:35 26th May 2003. But even now I can’t remember how I got that?
Got any more quizes like this?

RE: A quiz with a difference
OK time to put this thing to bed. The answer (now I’ve worked it out myself!) is 0525 22nd March 2003.
Strange, I thought something a little different would have caused more interest!

RE: A quiz with a difference
Im curious which gliders/motorgliders youve flown. Im going to guess you trained pilots in a Ka-6 and the motorgliders youve flown were those side by side fixed gear feathered prop jobs. I personally like the new racing ships with retractable props where the engine stays inside the ship where it belongs.

amazed at the lack of interest…

RE: A quiz with a difference
Here’s another clue. A typical pilot who flies commercially all his working life would retire with about 20,000 hours aged 60.

RE: A quiz with a difference
Unless you’re proficient at air to air refuelling i’m fairly confident you’d land within twelve hours?
After careful consideration of your clues and the use of extremely complicated algorithms and various other mathematical formulae and allowing for varibles I have concluded that you will land at 03.24 and 36 seconds on the 12th of July 2005?
Actually I guessed, but I did base it on you having logged around 15,000 hours or so.
Regards,
kev35

RE: A quiz with a difference
24th September 2005 – a random date that sprung to mind…

RE: A quiz with a difference
OK then. Typically a PPL does about 30-50 hours a year and an average glider pilot would do about the same. But who knows if I was typical! Commercial pilots generally do between 400 and 800 hours a year.
Go on, someone have a stab at a date and time, even if it is just a pure guess.
