Although where I live (stuck between Finningley & Gamston, Aeroventure & Newark:)) is blessed with general aviation, we are a bit thin on the warbird scene. Ok we now have the Vulcan, but I’ve only seen it fly once!!!!!! – yes I know….. I need to get out more.
However, I recently had to go to Elkseley(for dog obedience lessons-another story!!!),a village just across the A1 from Gamston, completely forgetting the airfield had a fly-in that day.
Around lunchtime I had the good fortune to go outside only to here the shrill whistle and sound of a Yellow nosed,Olive Drab P51in the climb, which then went on to give me an (almost private) improptu display for around 15 mins, enjoyed by myself and son while the girls where discussing training tactics with the dog trainer.
Other than a lack of camera, a Happy Day:):), I know it’s only a very scant description of which P51 was flying there, but if anyone recognises the aircraft, Knows the pilot, or he reads this, please pass them my compliments and many thanks for a really enjoyable moment.
Regards Rad.

Lucky old you.:p Kent is a wasteland barring the odd movement at Manston for the Margate show and a few stopovers for other shows. What a difference ffrom 70 years ago or even 50 years ago:(!!

LOL,
I know the feeling, apart from military stuff, we rarely get anything up here. However, I heard a Merlin twice in the last month; both Mustangs – one off in the distance towards Blofield doing a full aerobatic display; then last week, one of Maurice Hammonds aircraft went straight over the house, throttled back nicely, so I could actually see it!
