Another long forgotten photo from my “miscellaneous” box that I thought I’d share and see what you can come up with. It is an original (printed on Air Ministry paper) which was given to me by the brother of one of those in the photo.
It was taken c1949. See if you can work out where it was taken and name any of the aircrew. I appreciate it may be difficult to make them out so feel free to save the image and enlarge it at your discretion.
The copyright is just the usual disuader and nothing more 😉
All will be revealed in due course if we don’t get any/many correct answers.

AVM G. Silyn Roberts
The photo shows Group Captain G. Silyn Roberts in front row center. He was my great uncle. He retired from RAF in Bracknell at “Greenlovell” on Ranalagh Drive (now demolished for smaller housing). He died from Parkinson complications in 1972. As I recall he was the CO in Iran during the Battle of Britain; stayed in RAF for his career. His son Sean lives in Auckland. His memberships included the United Services and Royal Aero Club on Pall Mall. I have a few photos of his retired years, (such as visiting the Concorde development at Fairford). Through Uncle Silyn, I was privileged to meet, among others, Air Commodore Alan Wheeler (Shuttleworth Trust), Brian Trubshaw (Concorde), F.G. Miles, AVM Byrd Wilson, Edgar Percival, & Sir James Martin (Martin Baker). Probably a few others I have forgot.

Rear : Halliday; Morgan; Desemonie; Crouch; Brown; Watson; Lawrence; Beddone; Drew; Summers
3rd Row : Alldritt; Buchanan; Gardner; Woodley; Cope; Ellis; DeVigne; Chandler; Hutchinson; Adshead; Press man
2nd Row : Wilson; Stuart-Smith; Boyce; Genders; Whittome; Muller-Rowland; Brooks; Mancus; Adams; Marriott; Lewington; Grove; Parker; Foster.

Hope this was of some mild interest.

No Roger Daltrey is lead singer Pete is guitarist/songwriter.
Okay, apologies for the error.
Just in case there’s any doubt, it’s neither: Roger Daltrey, Peter Townsend (of The Who); nor Peter Townsend the pilot!

No it isn’t – I assume you meant the pilot rather than the lead singer of “The Who”? 😀

Lt Cdr Eric “Winkle” Brown was CO Aerodynamics Flight at RAE Farnborough until August 1949, and so that could be him in the front row.
Tis indeed the “Aero Flight” at Farnborough in 1949 and it is “Winkle” Brown, 5th from right, front row.
I guess I should have realised that the picture may well have appeared in his book.
He was not actually the CO though, that honour goes to the chap in the middle, a Group Captain whose brother gave me the picture. I happen to own his Group Captains cap and his later Air Vice-Marshall’s hat too.
Anyone now want to guess any of the others? As a clue there’s a very well known Battle of Britain pilot in amongst them.

I think it was in a book, if not ETPS then perhaps something to do with RAE Farnborough – but it’s all too vague now, my old brain’s getting tired!
RAE Farnborough – Yes!

I think I’ve seen this somewhere before – is it an ETPS photo and is that Jeffrey Quill at the far left of the 3rd row (in civvies with a natty striped tie)?
Hmmm! If you have seen it before I’d be grateful if you could recall where?
ETPS – nope.
Not Jeffrey Quill.
