A small tribute…

Its been so long since we were home,
Spent so much time being alone,
Through the dust of foreign fields we’ve trod,
Fought against overwhelming odds.
But now at last, our time has come,
Our “business” here is over and done,
At last we can see those we left behind
the day we went to the front line.

But what is this? theres no one there,
Its like our country does not care
We fought, we bled, and yes some died,
Just to be betrayed by our own side
No thanks, no cheers, no congratulatory beers,
Not even our families waiting to see us
No celebration, not a kind word spoken,
Not even our friends
For a Heroes Welcome.
