I flew from the South Coast to Aberdeen in Scotland, and there wasn’t a bare bit of land to be seen from the south coast all the way to Scotland. It was snow the length and breadth of the country.
First pic is flying over the Central Lowlands towards Edinburgh.

This next one is North of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth, looking down the Firth of Tay towards Dundee

A more side view of the one above showing Fife Regional Park, you can also just make out Loch Leven which is completely frozen over just to the southwest of Fife Regional Park (the mountains).

A zoomed in shot of Fife Regional Park with the town of Glenrothes to the East of it.

A great view of Dundee City and Dundee airport which is sat along the Firth of Tay. You can also make out The Firth of Tay starting to Ice over.

Passing Dundee again.

Another view looking behind us this time of Dundee.

A view south of the Cairngorms Mountain Range looking north east towards Aberdeen. On decent here.

A view out the left of the Cairngorms.

Terrific pictures. I was brought up in Newburgh on the banks of the Tay.
I took some myself at the beginning of December in the same area while routing Vancouver to Amsterdam in a KLM MD-11. We tracked across Eastern Scotland at sunset at FL370.

Not as clear as Deano’s but our windows weren’t as clean and it was getting dark!

Deano, pity you weren’t a bit lower going over the River Tay as then I’d be able to see my home back in the 80’s. Situated on the opposite bank to Dundee, midway between the bridges is the village of Wormit where RAF Woodhaven used to be. I lived in the ground floor flat of Rock House and loved it especially when the wind got up and sent waves splashing against the bedroom windows.

Thanks for the responses chaps.
I’m not sure about taking lots more, my work “collection” is running into the 10’s of GB of space. I take the camera to work now and again trying to capture that “magic moment” you don’t see very often 😀

Amazing photos, I look up at aircraft turning onto finals for Edinburgh, but hadn’t really thought about what the views are like for the pilot. Especially in the current winter wonderland.

On the way home (well to Leeds Bradford anyway) overhead Perthshire heading towards Glasgow FL230. Not getting a good TAS today, it was ISA -11 up there.

A view over the Lake District in Cumbria looking south towards Blackpool.

Travelling south down the “M6” overhead Morecombe bay towards Blackpool.

Crossing the South Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales towards Leeds/Bradford Airport.

Getting dark now as we head towards Liverpool and Wallasey. You can see the River Mersey ahead.

More of the same.

Hope you enjoyed them.
