On my day off today I decided to brave the wind and the rain and head to LBA. It was a somewhat disappointing day, and just before the 5-6 o’clock rush began I was rained off and retreated to Yates’s for lasagne and chips.
The first photo is badly out of focus, but it illustrates just how bad the conditions were at LBA today.

The next three shots will appear a little strange to those who are familliar with LBA. Runway 32 was in use, and as I arrived, this little plane took off but stayed at very low altitude until it was well over the threshold of the 14 end of the runway.

And here are just a few random shots from the afternoon. Hopefully the weather will improve by next week when I have another few days off!

It was? Excellent! All I need now is for my LHR-LBA flight next Tuesday to be an A321 and I’ll be happy. Mr Morley… Don’t even think about it 😀
Paul… A321 fan and proud of it.
That’s all I need, seeing Cable and Wireless with pointy things today, and then you getting an A321! :).
Nice to see LBA getting bigger aircraft from bmi, I understood the route wasn’t particularly busy at the mo!

Hmmm, when did that one come? The one in the morning was an A320, since it had new colours but I also saw it’s reg as being G-MIDL. My eyes are playing tricks…
Came in about 1345, it was the A321 with Star Alliance Colours. Parked on stand 8 because stand 7 can’t fit a A321.

Todays BD414 – BD417 was a A321 (G-MIDL)

I bet that landing put the wind up the punters on the Eastern Jetstream.
1L.
I would imagine so. That was taken just seconds before it touched down. I’ve been on 737’s that have done similar things on approach, but it must’ve felt very odd on such a small aircraft!

Also, were you there yesterday by any chance? bmi brought in the A320 old colours in the morning, was thrilled (for some reason..) to see it!
Got an A320 this morning too. Now, for an A321!

Nice graphs there mate 😀
I went up on Sunday and the wind was really bad, a jet 2 757 had a heavy landing on 14, never seen so much smoke lol
Great shots again 😉

Unfortunately not. I slept in yesterday until some ridiculous time after returning from Denmark, going up to Scotland for 3 gigs, doing a 10 hour coach journey back down from Fort William, then going straight out to play a gig. I was in need of a little sleep after all that! I’ll hopefully be spending a few days up there next week though.
