A Sunny-ish Afternoon At MAN! 2-4-07 BIG Post!

Hi All,

Myself, Jonezi06 and his Dad had a wander to MAN yesterday. The sun was out for most of the afternoon but unfortunately in an almost useless bit of the sky!

All taken with a Canon 30D + Tamron 28-300 XR Di Macro. Apologies for the lack of variety here, pretty much all my south side shots were useless because of the position of the Sun!

Not the best side of the aircraft for lighting, but this was the ‘uncluttered’ side. I must say, she really is looking stunning!

Nice shots there Paul, just two questions…who was the all white BAe 146 operating for and where was it destination, and is the Jet2 a/c one of their new ones that they have accquired from China or not? Just wondering because I notice it is missing its silver coat of paint, which kinda makes the livery look rather dull and boring!

G-FLTA is a Flightline machine currently operating for FlyBe on former BA Connect Services to BRU and CDG.

G-LSAD was delivered last Summer to Jet2 and is the former Air Scotland machine. She was painted as a hybrid due to her requirement to be in service for the summer season. Both G-LSAG/H that are in service so far from China are in Silver/Red variations. G-LSAI is yet to enter service.

I’ve seen G-GMPB over Loughborough before – what does it do exactly – its a RAF or Army thing isnt it?

The “GMP” in the registration stands for “Greater Manchester Police”, G-GMPA having been the GMP’s original AS355 helicopter – now re-registered in the USA.

Some fair shots there, Paul. 😉

I’m not actually sure who G-FLTA is operating for. Possibly JET2? G-LSAD, the white 757 as far as I understand is white because when she was delivered to JET2, they didn’t have time to apply the full livery. I’m not sure where she came from as that isn’t the kind of thing I really pay attention to, but I’m sure someone else will know!

Nice photos! You know you can avoid backlit shots by going to southside? Getting there from the AVP is quite easy and can easily be done within the hour even without car.

Also, what happened with the engine cowling of the islander?

Thanks for the advice, Peter, but MAN is one of my regular airports so I’m more than familliar with it! We did go to the south side but landing shots on 06R were actually dreadfully backlit after 3pm. Unfortunately we arrived just after mid day so weren’t there in time to make the most of the wonderful south side morning light.

The Islander was doing some engine runs without its cowling so I’m guessing a little maintenance was going on. She was flying again not long after.

Thanks for your comments so far, guys!

Fab Shots as always, even without the Beast on the end of your camera.:D

Shame you didn’t get round to the Southside!
