Hey, it’s only two months late! 🙂
The final part of the very enjoyable weekend myself and Adam Spalding spent at MAN in July. Many people here know my feelings on watermarks, but considering the recent incidents of photo theft (as we saw on this forum earlier today), I feel I have no choice but to use them. I’ve tried to make them very subtle, so hopefully they don’t detract from the image itself. All shots taken with a Canon 30D and Sigma 50-500 lens.
Anyway, enjoy!

Widmeister… If I remember rightly the Lybian A300 was operating for Mahan, but I may well have totally confused that with something else. I’m sure one of the MAN locals can correct me if I have!
Thankyou again, all!

I think you should get a knighthood for ‘services to aviation photography’…arise Sir Paul!:D
Some of those photos are just mind-blowingly stunning.
The AA 757(w) is my personal favourite, nice to see the KLM 737 in the background, was that intentional!?
Coming a very close but equal second has to be the Auriginy ATR, VS 747 and the Singapore Airlines ones!
And lastly, is that Onur Air a/c on lease from another airline (i.e Saudi), as I have never seen one of their a/c with a beige coloured fuselage before?

Surprise Surprise!! Mr Nichols does it again! 🙂
What a fantastic post, from a fantastic weekend. Was simply the highlight of my aviation photography for this summer.
Actually feel sad now…… Making me realise what a great weekend away it was.
DUBLIN NOW TED!!!!!!!

Would love to know what happened to the AA rudder.
If you are talking about the dirty mark at the bottom of the 757’s rudder, it’s evidence of a Sydrol leak. It’s either got a very slight (within MM limits) weep from one of the rudder PFCU’s or it’s had one. If it’s had one, the will have fixed the leak and cleaned as much of the fluid up as possible. The residual fluid then leeches out of the nooks and crannies over subsiquent flights bringing all sorts of dirt with it. The Skydrol will eventualy soften the paint and cause that to come off. Look out for a yellow steak (The primer paint) under the left hand wing inner section on the 767’s. They are all prone to Skydrol weeps in this area, from the leading edge device PDU’s. Spent hours looking for that one!!!

May i ask what you think of the Sigma 50-500mm lens ?
Of course! It’s been my main aviation lens for around 15 months now, and I absolutely love it. It’s a tremendously versatile lens for aviation as you have such a huge range of focal lengths available, and the ability to go to 50mm at the wide end was what swayed my decision to purchase the Bigma and not the 100-400L IS. 100mm simply isn’t wide enough for the places I shoot and my shooting style. Equipment shouldn’t limit you, it should allow you to get the results you want, which is why it’s extremely important to choose gear that suits you, your style and the locations you shoot at the most, and the 50-500 suits me perfectly. Any more questions just drop me a PM. 🙂
Thanks for your kind works, all. Much appreciated!

All Stunners Paul – But the SIA!
Shame you put watermarks on them…as I was going to steel them all, and re-post them tomorrow claiming they were mine… 😀

Superb mate, phrasing this carefully…The Virgin does it for me :diablo: and the ACA and the AA and the…..infact they are all excellent.
Would love to know what happened to the AA rudder.
Watermarking is the way forward, all mine get the treatment and I’m only posting smaller images to in future.
Fingers crossed the wx and traffic is like that in MAN in a couple of weeks!
