A thought of mine

Okay before any of you guys go slating me off or trying to discourage me this is a serious idea.
I was browsing the planetalk foroum and i know there is mention there of making a compilation book of memorys of the spitfire for its 70th aniversery. But has anything simmiler been done for the Hurricane? I am thinking of doing the same idea but for the Hurricane and putting it on the web, or even (this is a dream realy) getting it printed.
What are peoples thoughts on this idea?
Before anyone asks, yes i am prepared to put in the time, money and effort. I whant to do something like that. Im not to fussed about getting it in print but i would like to get it on my site.

Maybe all this good advice could be given by PM, rather than sharing with everyone…

I am not calling your advice ‘useless’, i apreciate your advice and respect people like you. It is the few people (i am not naming names) that post short useless comments.
Just scroll up to the top of this page for some examples of what i mean by useless.

I hope you’re not referring to me with that comment. My comment was a serious point which you may or may not have taken on board.

I do not post for the hell of it. I may have alot of commitments at the moment but at other times i dont have any.
I never thought it was easy and i wish the guys all the best luck in doing the Spitfire book.
My idea was to do the same, collecting observations, sotires etc but for the Hurricane.

Ollie, I have far too many projects,it all means I dont do them all properly…it is better to get used to cutting them down and prioritising.

I am now 40 and unlikely to finish them all by the time I croke. Use your enthusiasm and get one done, youll feel good and you will impress others
take care and happy new year

Ollie.

Might I respectfully suggest you obtain a dictionary and look up the word irony.

Just come along on Sunday for a chat, I’m sure we’ll all learn something.

Andy.

Who’s the author then?

Whose is it then?

What you mean like this one?
He’s always been a grumpy old git.
He drank too much Thames river water as a child.

So Ollie,
why don’t you pop over to Old Warden on Sunday?
I know you live nearby and you’d get to meet at least one published author, who might be able to steer you in the right direction.
You might also do the collection a bit of good with some sweated labour.

Ollie.

I’ve given you some advice (which you call ‘useless comments’) which I have learned the hard way, through experience which has been costly financially and emotionally. People are trying to help you but you have such inbred arrogance that you cannot help yourself throwing any advice or encouragement back in people’s faces.

I dread to think of the response you will receive from those you will need to help you achieve your aims. Your attitude will doom you and your projects to failure. But, if that’s what you want, you just carry on the way you are.

Anyway, why am I bothering, I wouldn’t know anything that could possibly be of any benefit to an expert such as yourself, would I?

Ollie, your avoidance of txt-speak is greatly appreciated by all of us. Thank you for that.

Now I have just taken your last post and passed it through Microsoft Word’s spellcheker.

It works for me – and I accepted all the suggested changes uncritically.

What do you think?

I do try with my spelling. Not everyone is a good speller. I do not use being young as an excuse.
I do appreciate the advice you guys are giving me but sometimes I feel a bit picked on, I try asking a serious question like this and I just get a load of useless comments. I don’t know what you all think of the younger generation, but I do appreciate the written word. I do not use text language or any abbreviations like a lot of people my age seem to, as I understand that not everyone can understand that.

Have you ever considered typing in ‘Word’ and then ‘cutting and pasting’ into this forum after spell-checking?
You’ll find that people take you much more seriously if you show some effort in regard to spelling and punctuation and while you talk rather glibly about authoring and researching a book and gaining a list of contacts for that work, you’ll find that people of a certain generation will consider literacy far more important than you do.

The written word may not be important to you, but to many people it’s a mark of education and you’ll need to demonstrate to them that you can read and write before you’re taken seriously.

You seem to use the excuse of being young as a cover for acting in what might be considered by some as a loutish manner—asking stupid, ill considered questions and then acting petulantly when people laugh at you.

Why don’t you consider a question before you ask it?
You may then find that people make a more serious effort to answer those questions in a reasonable manner.
I’ve read it here that your enthusiasm should be encouraged and to a point I agree with that, and you know that I’ve E-mailed you in the past to correct some of the errors on your web-site.
However, I would point out that your continuing apparent resistance to learning from what you’re told by people here, could be construed as a touch ignorant and that isn’t much of a virtue.

So, you’re not a child, why not try acting like an adult—you might eventually enjoy the experience.

Just some free advice.
Andy

QUOTE Would that be the Hawker Limbo Dancer? Camm’s secret project designed to sneak under the German radar. QUOTE

A much under-researched topic suitable for a dilligent researcher to publish a paper on – my understanding was that due to superior fish management skills the Supermarine (DO google before you post dear boy) ‘Limbo’ T1.T actually masked itself behind a marshalled shoal of tuna, that was of course until the advent of the Blackburn Shark which ate them

But you don’t listen, which part of the conversation don’t you understand. Several people have suggested how to improve your spelling, yet you have chosen to ignore them again. On the back of this you expect us to take you seriously.

Its not anyones fault, although at times i have been known to blame my teachers at school.

Teachers can only teach to those who are willing to listen. Judging by past form….!!!!
